Camping along the Peak to Peak Highway
South of Estes Park, CO-7 runs past Wild Basin and Allenspark and meets CO-72 toward Ward — the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, Colorado's oldest. Olive Ridge is on CO-7 at mile marker 14, about 15 miles south of Estes Park; Peaceful Valley and Camp Dick are on Middle St. Vrain Road off CO-72 north of Ward; Pawnee is at Brainard Lake, at 10,400 feet. The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests run all four. Olive Ridge has 56 sites, Camp Dick 41, Pawnee 47 and Peaceful Valley 17. Single sites are $29 a night. None has electricity, hookups, a dump station or showers; Peaceful Valley, Camp Dick and Pawnee have potable water. RVs and trailers must fit the site's parking spur. The Forest Service campground status table lists the longest parking spur at each (Olive Ridge 40 ft, Peaceful Valley 45 ft, Camp Dick 45 ft) and the 2026 operating seasons: Olive Ridge May 15–Sept 13, Pawnee June 26–Sept 13, Peaceful Valley and Camp Dick May 15–Nov 15. Each mixes reservable and first-come sites. Camp Dick is reservable between the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and is usually full for the weekend before Friday morning.
